New York City, March 18, 2020 – With the current COVID-19 situation, Martha & Marley Spoon understands more than ever how important it is that customers’ meals are delivered safely and reliably every week. Martha & Marley Spoon shares what it is doing to make sure that continues to happen.
Food and Employee Safety
The safety of our customers, our team and our community is, and always has been, a top priority. Martha & Marley Spoon has Food Safety and Quality Assurance experts on-site at its facilities and is reinforcing stringent sanitation and hygiene procedures. As part of these procedures, Martha & Marley Spoon adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (the legal protocols food manufacturers and sellers must comply with to be certified by food regulators). We have also prohibited all nonessential visitors from entering our fulfillment centers. We are tracking the situation as it evolves and will continue to follow best practices put forth by global and local health authorities.
Delivery Direct to Customers’ Doors
Receiving fresh groceries at home is as much about staying healthy as it is about saving time. All the ingredients that customers receive from Martha & Marley Spoon come from a controlled environment in fulfillment centers. We are working closely with our shipping partners to ensure these ingredients move from packing to shipping quickly so that they arrive safe, sealed, and delivered directly to customers’ doors.
Uninterrupted Service
Martha & Marley Spoon is establishing processes to safeguard against major service disruptions so that every member of our community continues to receive their meals each week. We are stocking our shelves with products and ingredients from vetted and approved suppliers, and we are taking steps to provide appropriate ingredient substitutions if and when necessary. This will enable us to reliably deliver meals to customers so that they are free to focus on what matters most: the health and safety of their loved ones.
Social Responsibility
As a company equipped to ship food directly to the doorstep of residences, Martha & Marley Spoon has been declared an “essential service” business and takes this responsibility very seriously. As a result of social distancing and the recommendation to stay at home, we are currently experiencing unprecedented demand for our services from customers seeking to limit their contact with others at the grocery store and instead have meals they can cook at home using fresh, quality ingredients delivered direct to their door.
To ensure we are equipped to meet demand, Martha & Marley Spoon currently has new full-time positions open across three facilities located in Newark, New Jersey; Dallas, Texas; and Tracy, California. Positions span various production areas including order intake, material handling, assembly, and quality control. In a time where many workers in areas like hospitality, travel and the arts are being displaced due to forced closure, we strongly encourage people to apply to join the Martha & Marley Spoon team via our Careers page.
It is Martha & Marley Spoon’s intention to help those whose lives have been impacted by job loss and to continue to support communities across the US who will be relying on our service during this difficult time. We have therefore enabled existing customers who have received more than two orders to assist family and friends by sending up to 10 free referral boxes containing two meals each.
Fabian Siegel, Founder, and CEO of Martha & Marley Spoon: “Sharing healthy, high-quality ingredients with the Martha & Marley Spoon community is a privilege and a responsibility I take seriously. Because of this, the health and safety of our products, employees and community is—and will continue to be—our top priority.”
